In SE Labs Awards 2025, Our Endpoint and EDR Solutions Take Top Honors

Building on perfect scores in the most rigorous, real-world tests to date, Symantec and Carbon Black once again best the competition

  • Broadcom’s Symantec and Carbon Black brands won SE Labs Awards 2025 for top-tier Windows endpoint protection and network detection security, based on rigorous testing and client feedback.
  • Both products previously earned SE Labs’ AAA rating after blocking 556 real-world ransomware payloads with zero false positives.
  • These accolades join a growing list of honors that highlight our commitment to delivering enterprise-grade protection to all.

We’re just halfway through 2025, but it’s already been a standout year for security solutions from Broadcom’s legendary Symantec and Carbon Black brands. Last week in London, this already great year got even better.

It was there that SE LABSⓇ, the cybersecurity testing authority, named its winners of the SE Labs Awards 2025, and honored our solutions in two categories:

  • WINNER: SE Labs Award for Enterprise Endpoint (Windows)
  • WINNER: SE Labs Award for Enterprise Network Detection and Response

SE Labs evaluated solutions based on a combination of continual public testing, private assessments and feedback from SE Labs’ corporate clients. It’s a big deal that we’re taking top honors in nearly 10 percent of all of the award categories for 2025.

It’s an even bigger deal coming from such a meticulous testing outfit. “Great security doesn’t just happen,” observes Simon Edwards, Founder and CEO of SE Labs. “It’s built, tested and proven. These are the products setting the benchmarks for the rest of the cybersecurity industry.”

Tried, tested and true

SE Labs notes that award winners represent “the very best in their field,” and they should know. In May, SE Labs awarded its coveted AAA rating for Advanced Security EDR Protection to Symantec Endpoint Security Complete (SES-C) and Carbon Black Cloud. Subjected to the same grueling tests, the two solutions earned SE Labs’ highest possible rating for exceptional performance in detecting, blocking and neutralizing ransomware attacks with zero false positives.

These weren’t just any tests. SE Labs subjected the two solutions—which used realistic configurations that could be found in any security stack—to real-world attack scenarios involving 15 known ransomware families. Those attacks pummeled a network built by SE Labs with 556 ransomware payload files featuring both known and unknown variants. Both solutions detected and blocked every attack, including living off the land attacks. Nothing got through.

Unlike testing platforms that reward vendors who “tune” their product to perform well, SE Labs uses standard product configurations and prohibits tuning. We respect that, because only under those real-world circumstances can test results be meaningful to the security teams who must deploy and administer the solution in question. Everyone knows what a false positive is, but a high score on a highly tuned test results in a false positive of a very different kind.

We’re on a roll

These latest SE Labs awards follow a series of accolades and honors from all quarters.

In May, we were named one of America’s Best Cybersecurity Companies for 2025 by Newsweek and Statista R. At Google Cloud Next, Google Cloud named us a 2025 Partner of the Year for Security - Data Protection—a testament to Symantec Data Loss Prevention (DLP)’s ability to keep organizations and their data safely where it belongs (out of the hands of bad actors).

Meanwhile, industry analysts IDC and Radicati Group, in a pair of recent reports, recognize Symantec DLP as a leader in the market, and IDC even recognizes Symantec as an information security pioneer for being the first to deliver deep content inspection and advanced policy creation.

Enterprise-grade security for all

These award-winning solutions—in addition to our entire portfolio—are proof of our commitment to delivering enterprise-grade security to organizations of all sizes. Both Symantec Endpoint Security Complete (SES-C) and Carbon Black Cloud, for instance, are designed for a world in which even the smallest organizations face sophisticated enterprise-grade threats, which means they need defenses capable of protecting against those threats. That in turn requires a combination of best-in-class products—not mediocre, kitchen sink offerings that might check the right boxes but still leave you exposed.

SES-C, for example, incorporates innovations like Incident Prediction—a first-of-its kind AI-powered feature trained on a catalog of more than 500,000 real-world attack chains and capable of predicting an attacker’s next four to five moves with extremely high confidence. Meanwhile, Carbon Black Cloud provides legendary Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) protection, giving your threat hunters the visibility and intel needed to track and neutralize threats before attackers get what they came for.

The team fighting your fight

These innovations don’t happen without a great deal of hard work—and here, our product engineering team excels like no other. As Simon Edwards of SE Labs puts it: “Behind every high performing security product is a team committed to excellence. We believe that we should celebrate the technologies and teams pushing the boundaries in protection and resilience against cyber attacks.”

I couldn’t agree more. We’re delighted to be honored by SE Labs, and we’ll work hard to remain a top performer—both among testing outfits and analyst firms as well as our most important community of all: the organizations who rely on us to help keep them safe every day.
